GOVERNMENT HOUSE.
HONGKONG. 6th. March, 1916.
Sir,
# 8
I have the honour to confirm my cypher telegram
of the 22nd. ultimo, paraphrase of which is enclosed, in which I asked for special consideration in the matter of the requisiti oning by the Imperial Government of stemmers engaged in the trade between Hongkong and British North Borneo and Hongkong and Calcutta. I enclose copy of a manormdum from Messrs. Jardine, Matheson and Company, Limited, the Agents for the steamers in question, in which the importance of the trading of these vessels is emphasized.
Any reasonable concession which His Majesty's Government can make in this matter will be much appreciated by this Government and by those interested in Far Eastern British
Trade.
I have the honour to be,
Sir,
Your most obedient,
humble servant,
